A Bold Lip: Top Four Dark Pinks and Burgundies

From left to right: 02 Frambourjoise, 440 Cherries in the Snow, Salon Rouge, Kate 30.

As a first post for my new blog I thought I would start a small series called A Bold Lip. Bold lipsticks are my favourite to wear and just seem to brighten the face and make your face look more "done". Now I'm not saying stick on a red lipstick to pop to Tesco but I know if I need to look like I've made some effort with my appearance, one of these lucky lipsticks comes out. I would categorise my favourite bold lipsticks into 3 categories: Pinks and Corals, Dark Pinks and Burgundies and then Reds.

Starting with the Dark Pinks and Burgundies, I wear this shade range the most and in general I wear these 4 lipsticks the most...

For a more daytime appropriate lip its got to be Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in 02 Frambourjois. This is more on the pink end of the scale compared to my other 3 choices. As it is a liquid lipstick the texture is lovely and smooth and makes it easy to apply on the go. After application it starts off creamy and dries to a semi-matte finish, making it long lasting.

A loyal trusty lipstick next with Revlon Lustrous Lipstick in 440 Cherries in the Snow. A dark cherry colour(as the name suggests!) that is suitable for any and every occasion: balls, birthdays, meals out, even shopping trips if you fancy. This was my first blogger enabled purchase when I saw Laura from Buy Now Blog Later review it many a year ago, a purchase I did not come to regret.

A lovely christmas gift I received this year was MAC Lipstick in Salon Rouge. This lipstick was part of their recent Christmas collection. This is really a unique colour, when I spotted it on Anna from Vivianna Does Makeup I knew it had to be mine. Leaning towards the red category, this is a dark pink red with a matte finish making it a nice bold shade against my pale skin. A good one for autumn and winter.

Last up is a dark burgundy from Rimmel London Kate Lasting Finish number 30. I used to be quite scared of shades like this one as this is a very pigmented lipstick, but as long as your lips are not too dry and you have a steady hand this shade looks gorgeous. If the colour is too bold for you it can even be applied as a stain kind of finish. The smell of these lipsticks is also a bonus and they are a total bargain at £5.49!

There we have it my four favourite bold lip colours. Which would you wear? I am also very open to new recommendations!

Thank you for reading.
